Movement Medicine
A creative, embodied meditative practice that invites you into deep connection with your body, heart, mind, and spirit — awakening intuition, releasing stuck energy, and nurturing authentic expression.
Movement Medicine helps us reconnect and start listening to our body and heart again. We do this by engaging the body in movement, bringing our awareness back inside our bodies, and trusting the movement that comes. Through this process of embodiment, we can engage all of our power through the integrated intelligence of the body, heart, and mind.
Express Your True Essence
Movement Medicine is a process of learning to trust yourself and your body again, to trust that there is a dancer, a mover, a creator inside you that knows what to do, to express how you feel, and to make sense of your experiences. To express the true essence of who you are.
Active Acceptance
Movement Medicine supports you to embody all of who you are and encourages you to be all you can be. This is a journey of active acceptance of those ‘hidden’ parts of ourselves, to acknowledge and embrace the gifts that are inside, and to bring these gifts into the world. Alongside, this practice teaches us not to take ourselves so seriously.
Bigger Picture
Movement Medicine is about understanding the bigger picture and our interconnectedness with all living things. We affect each other on this planet, and what we do matters; it matters to our own selves, to each other and our world.
Roots
Movement Medicine has many threads weaved together to create it. 5Rhythms and the ecstatic dance practice, Gestalt Psychotherapy, Shamanic teachings from the Ecuadorian Amazon and Artic Circle, Family Constellations, and Neuroscience.
In the 1970s, in the USA, Gabrielle Roth brought ecstatic dance into the modern era and created 5 Rhythms, a conscious dance practice. Ya'Acov and Susannah Darling Khan were Gabrielle Roths' apprentices for 17 years and brought 5 Rhythms to Europe In 2006, Ya'Acov and Susannah felt called to create a new practice, Movement Medicine.
Every Movement Medicine teacher brings their own medicine to their classes and workshops. If you come to one class you will get a taster of an aspect of this. If you come to classes regularly and attend a few workshops, you start to dive deeper into what Movement Medicine has to offer. It is a wondrous and beautiful gift of healing and joy.

"Carolyn was wonderful, she made me feel very welcomed. It was my first experience of movement medicine and I haven't felt my body feel more alive. Its not something I thought I would try being a 70 year old. I will definitely be doing this again. I will be channeling my inner fire more often."

Monthly Immersive Dance
Do you want a space where you can dance how you want? A place where there is room to move? A place where you feel safe and free? And you want some great tunes? Then Immersive Dance is for you!
The spaces I offer are inclusive and welcoming. This is a space where we meet on the dance floor as we are. There is no requirement to be a ‘Dancer’, we are all dancers of our own lives. There is freedom within my sessions to dance and move how you want to move, whatever you’re feeling – all of you is welcome.
Come and dance if you think you can’t dance, love dancing, or have never danced sober; whatever your story, come and move your body, release stress, and spark your joy!
Great tunes, a beautiful space, and friendly vibes - Come and immerse yourself in the dance!
