The Beauty In Contrast: Embracing the Light & Shadow Within

‘We can hardly bear to look. The shadow may carry the best of the life we have not lived. Go into the basement, the attic, the refuse bin. Find gold there. Find an animal who has not been fed or watered. It is you!! This neglected, exiled animal, hungry for attention, is a part of your self.’

-        Bessel Van Der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score

How does lightness and darkness manifest in you?

Do you reject or hide a part of you because it is unpleasant / unacceptable / destructive?

Where do you put your focus, on your strengths or your weaknesses?

Are you secretly hiding your light?

What if you were to let yourself shine without limitations?

In this workshop we will dance towards welcoming home the disowned parts of ourselves, embrace and celebrate our beauty and gifts within, and create the steps to bring these gifts into the world

We will play with these polarities utilising Movement Medicine, specifically working with the Medicine Circle and the Drama (shamanic) Triangle. We will incorporate other therapeutic tools, including expressive writing and heart connection exercises, within a space that is both safe and challenging, inspiring and grounding, and with depth and humour.

Workshop Times:

Sunday: 10:30 – 17:00

We will take 1 hour for lunch, please bring light food to eat as there will be movement in the afternoon.

Please ensure you can be there for the start and finish times.

We want our workshops to be as inclusive as possible welcoming all peoples. Sadly this venue, YAMA Studios, currently only has stair access. We are currently looking for alternative accessible venues to hold this and other workshops.
